In June 2011, NodalSeismic successfully completed a
4-day, wide-bin 3-D seismic survey of a promising Monterey oil prospect in Santa Maria, CA for client Underground Energy.
In only two days, the NodalSeismic crew placed 2,700 nodes, one every 55 feet, along a 13-mile course inside of steep, deeply dissected terrain.
The survey results identified a number of large, undrilled, and some drilled, folds, or anticlines, with high structural relief, according to David Hoyt, vice president of exploration and development at Underground Energy.
The company plans to drill in the newly targeted areas in the next few years.
